Srinagar : Principal Secretary, Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Monday convened a meeting to review progress made in the establishment of veterinary sciences/ Fisheries University in the State.
The meeting was attended by Dean FVSC Jammu, Dean FVSC Kashmir, Director Education SKUAST (J), and Director planning SKUAST (K), Director Animal, Sheep Husbandry Kashmir/Jammu and other senior officers of the department.
During the meeting, Dr Samoon was informed that the Advisory Committee on Animal husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries of Union Government, has also recommended for establishing the veterinary university in the State.
The Principal Secretary said going by the importance of livestock in the State, the opportunities and the potential available for its further growth, the creation of a State veterinary university is highly desirable.
Samoon directed the concerned that necessarily paperwork and other formalities should be completed as early as possible so that the matter would be vigorously taken up for its approval.
