Srinagar: In a startling revelation, National Conference (NC) on Saturday accused the Governor administration of Jammu and Kashmir of bribing Rs two lakh to any person for contesting the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) polls.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), NC provincial president, Nasir Aslam Wani said that Governor Satya Pal Malik led administration is offering bribe of Rs two lakh to the candidates to contest in the Municipal polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the elections without the participation of mainstream parties are meaningless, saying that the government is conducting such elections against the mainstream.
Commenting over the wining of candidates in Kulgam uncontested, Wani said those who are emerged victorious are not even aware about anything from the areas where they have been declared as winning candidates.
“I believe that these elections being conducted without the participation of mainstream parties are temporary and the new government in the state will try to hold these polls again,” he said.
Meanwhile, the NC Provincial President lashed out at former Finance Minister and senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Syed Altaf Bukhari over his statement wherein he stated welcomed the suggestion of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Coordination Committee (JKCSCC) for alliance of National Conference and PDP for formation of a new government for fighting strongly Article 35-A and challenges to Article 370.
Stating that PDP is trying to hoodwink people by making such statements, Wani said that asked why PDP refused to forge an alliance with NC after it bagged maximum seats in the 2014 elections in Jammu and Kashmir. “We offered our support to PDP at that time but they refused and went against the aspirations of people by forging an alliance with BJP here,” he said.
He said that the party throughout their three years of tenure took every step against the aspirations of people. “Even PDP failed to take any step to protect Article 35-A. Neither they hire any lawyer nor they filed any affidavit over the protection of Article 35-A,” he said.
Wani added that “I believe PDP want to make its partner in their crimes, they did during their three years of tenure. There is no seriousness in the statement even their own MLA criticized Bukhari for making such statement.” (KNS)
