Hirdesh Kumar reviews implementation of power sector schemes in Kargil

Kargil : The Commissioner Secretary Power Development Department (PDD), Hirdesh Kumar, convened a meeting to review the implementation of various ongoing developmental projects under power sector in the Kargil district here Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Vikas Kundal, Chief Engineer Projects Kashmir, Naseer Ahmad, Chief Planning Officer Kargil, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Kargil and other senior officers and engineers of PDD and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on Nimoo-Bazgo, Srinagar-Leh Transmission Line, Chutuk Power Project and construction of Kargil Grid Station. The meeting also discussed the release of wages in favour of daily wagers including data operators working in PDD in the district Kargil.
Taking stock of work on various power projects, the Commissioner Secretary asked the concerned to work with utmost dedication and accelerate the pace of work on all ongoing power projects and complete them within a stipulated time.
He said the Governor’s administration is committed to provide better electricity facilities to every household besides covering hundred per cent target of supplying power to every consumer of the State. He informed that under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes including DDUGJY, IPDS, RGGVY and PMDP, an amount of Rs 120 crore works have already been awarded.
While reviewing the works undertaken by JKSPDC, it was informed that the construction work on four power projects are in full swing while as the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for four more projects were prepared and submitted to the concerned quarter for early sanctioning.
It was also given out that by completion of construction work on the Srinagar-Leh distribution network, it will benefit 60 per cent consumers of the twin districts of Ladakh.
Taking stock of the providing electricity to each consumer in Zanskar Sub Division, the Commissioner Secretary asked the concerned to procure cables and generators for electrification in three hamlets of far-flung areas of Lungnok block in Sub Division, Zanskar.
