Srinagar: National Conference (NC) spokesman, Junaid Azim Matoo on Tuesday tendered his resignation from the party over his disagreement with the party’s decision to boycott the upcoming Panchayat and Municipal polls.
Matoo took to social networking site and claimed that he has tendered his resignation before party’s general Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar
Junaid also announced his participation in the upcoming elections in the state, saying that he will announce his candidature for the upcoming ULB elections from Srinagar tomorrow.
“Based on my humble disagreement with the party’s decision to boycott the upcoming ULB and Panchayat Polls, I have just sent my resignation from the party to the JKNC General Secretary,” Junaid tweeted.
Matoo said that leaving democratic institutions open to misrepresentation would inflict serious harm on the State.
“I strongly believe that leaving our grassroots democratic institutions open to misrepresentation would inflict serious harm on the State and also wreak havoc with our social fabric and cultural legacy,” Matoo tweeted.
Meanwhile, Matoo further informed that he will announce his candidature for the upcoming ULB elections from Srinagar tomorrow, adding that he is committed to serve people.
“I will announce my candidature for the ULB elections from Srinagar tomorrow in sha Allah and I remain committed to serving my people and helping the city I grew up in meet the challenges it’s faced with. I won’t be addressing the media or taking any questions today,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, minutes after Junaid Azim Matoo tendered his resignation, NC accepted his resignation.
NC in a tweet said that it is pleased to accept the resignation of Junaid from the basic membership of party.
“J&K National Conference is pleased to accept the resignation of Junaid Azim Mattu from the basic membership of party,” NC tweeted.
