Srinagar/Sept,15: Three militants were killed in an ongoing gunfight with the government forces in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, police said.
An official said that five militants were trapped after the search teams od army and special operations group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly launched a cordon and search operation in Chowgam area of Kulgam district late Friday night. “3 reported to have been neutralised. Train services between Baramulla -Qazigund suspended. Police and Security Forces on job,” police said on Twitter.
As the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off a gunfight.Three militants have been killed in the gunfight with the government forces which was continuing till the filing of this report.
Mobile Internet service were suspended in south Kashmir districts of Anantnag and Kulgam in view of an ongoing gunfight in Qazigund . An official said the service was suspended in the two districts “as a precautionary measure” to check spread of rumours.
