DC Jammu reviews Muharram arrangements

Jammu : Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar Saturday discussed the arrangements for Muharram here at a meeting attended by officers and representatives of religious organizations Anjuman-e-Imamia, Anjuman-e-Haidery and Anjuman-e-Hussaini.
Giving details about religious events held during the holy Muharram month, the representatives of religious organizations informed about the requirements for organizing safe and peaceful events attended by scores of people belonging to different faiths.
The DC extensively discussed the arrangements to be put in place for the observance of Ashoora. He instructed the concerned officers to ensure availability of water tankers especially at places of mass gatherings besides making proper provisions for medical aid and Ambulances.
He directed the municipal officers to ensure cleanliness in and around the route of the procession and religious place. He further instructed the PDD authorities to replace damaged street lights and install new street lights so that the devotees do not suffer during their night movement.
He further instructed for putting in place proper provisions for security, traffic management besides better coordination among departments for keeping the mishaps at bay. The R&B authorities were directed to ensure that the dilapidated roads if any from where the procession would take place are repaired at the earliest.
The meeting was attended by ADC Law & Order Rashpal Singh, SP North City G.L Sharma, CMO Jammu Sanjay Turki, Health Officer Municipal Corporation Dr. Saleem Khan along with other senior officers of the concerned departments and representative of Auqaf were present in the meeting.
