Srinagar/Aug, 30: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a pre-dawn raid arrested Syed Shakil Ahmed Shah, the eldest son of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin from his Ram Bagh residence in Srinagar.
Shakeel has been living in a separate house in Ram Bagh from past three decades.
Sources said that a joint team of NIA, CRPF and local raided his house and detained him. He was shifted to JIC Humhama.
An NIA official said that Shakeel was questioned on several occasions about funding case in the past one year but he didn’t show up for questioning after June 30, even after fresh summons.
Yusuf works as a medical assistant at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar.
Pertinently, in November 2017, the NIA had arrested Syed Shahid Yousuf, another son of Salahuddin. He was working in the agricultural department of the Jammu and Kashmir government and is presently in Tihar jail.
