Advisor (K) visits G’bal, takes stock of infra at Distt Hospital, Physical Education, Unani College

Ganderbal: Advisor to the Governor, K Vijay Kumar Tuesday visited Ganderbal district to review the developmental scenario and pace of progress of construction on mega developmental projects in the district.

During his visit, the Advisor was accompanied by MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education, Pawan Kotwal, District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Dr Piyush Singla, SSP Ganderbal, ADC Ganderbal and other concerned officials.

During his visit to district Hospital, Advisor Kumar visited several sections of the hospital including E R Section, OPD Section, USG Section, Causality ward and Surgical ICU where he interacted with the attendants and patients regarding the heath care facilities being provided there.

During his visit several issues were raised by the Medical Superintendent pertaining to dearth of staff, critical care ambulance, digital X-Ray and unavailability of other medical instruments. The Advisor assured that all issues will be taken up in the time bound manner.

Advisor Kumar laid special emphasis on expediting the construction work of OPD and IPD blocks, installation of lifts, macdamization of approach road to the hospital and directed the concerned agencies to accelerate the pace of work and ensure its completion within the stipulated timeframe. He directed DDC Ganderbal to personally monitor the progress of works and welfare initiatives in all the sections of the hospitals and take monthly reviews in this regard.

During his visit to College of Physical Education Gadoora, Ganderbal, the Principal Dr Hartej Singh briefed the Advisor about the functioning of the college that is built at a cost of Rs 30.39 crore and spread over an area of 240 kanals.

On the occasion, the Advisor Kumar went around the college complex including Administrative block, Computer Laboratory, Library hall, Lecture halls and Fitness cum gym centre and inspected the facilities being provided there.

Later, the Advisor visited the Unani Medical College at Nawabagh, Ganderbal and took stock of preparedness of the infrastructure, manpower, equipments, furniture and other requirements for taking first batch of BUMS students.

He was apprised by Dr Abdul Kabir Dar, Principal Unani Medical College about additional requirement of funds of Rs 12.5 crores for completion of compound wall, administrative block, hostel block, furniture, creation of staff for the college and hospital and equipments for taking first batch of students.

The Advisor Kumar directed the DDC Ganderbal to sort out the issues of land requirement and the public demands of the area and also directed that the link road leading to college campus be macadamized and revised proposal be submitted to the government.
