New Delhi/Aug,15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his this year’s I-Day speech from the ramparts of New Delhi reiterated his call for dialogue and reconciliation and wishes people of Jammu and Kashmir a “balanced development” for all the three regions of the state and assured that panchayat and municipal elections will be held in the state.
While last year Prime Minister’s Independence day speech was dominated by the mention of Jammu and Kashmir, this year he repeated his call for dialogue and reconciliation, plumping for gale milna (a hug) rather than gali (abuse) or goli (bullet) and former prime minister Vajpayee’s approach of ‘Insaaniyat, Kashmriyat and Jamhooriyat.’ He also said that municipal and panchayat polls in Jammu and Kashmir would be held soon, and wished for a “balanced development” of all regions of the state.
