Langate shuts after family claimed one among 5 militants killed in Rafiabad gunfight is their son

Handwara: Langate and its adjacent areas falling in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district observed a complete shutdown
after a local family claimed that one of the five militants killed in Dooniwari Rafiabad forest gunfight was their son.
Army on Thursday claimed that five militants were killed on during a gunfight in Rafiabad forests. An army official claimed all the slain were foreigners and affiliated with the Lashkar-e-toiba militant outfit.
However, a family residing in Langate area on Friday approached the police in Sopore with the claim that one of the slain was their missing son.
The family said that a missing report was already lodged at police station Langate on August 6.
“Bashir Ahmad Mir of Langate has approached the police and claimed that one among the five militants killed in gunfight in Rafiabad forests is their missing son, Muzaffar Ahmad Mir,” said a police official.
He added that they have taken note of their complaint and investigation has been taken up.
All the shops and business establishments remained in the town while skeletal movement of transport was observed on the roads.
