Start intense market checking drive across Kashmir division: Div Com(K) to DCs

Srinagar:  Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Saturday directed all Deputy Commissioners to start intense market checking drive across the division including Leh and Kargil to curb black marketing, profiteering, and hoarding.

The Divisional Commissioner issued these directions while reviewing the arrangements for upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival and Muharram across the Kashmir division.

All Deputy Commissioners presented a detailed report regarding the necessary arrangements being made for Eid-ul-Azha celebrations in the Division.

The Div Com directed all DCs to start intense market checking drive across the valley and take strict action against the offenders.

He also directed for identifying locations for the availability of sacrificial animals to the public which does not impede the flow of traffic and pedestrian movement.

Khan directed Animal Husbandry department to keep sheep, goats and poultry birds available at reasonable rates at all the sale centres so that the people do not face any inconvenience.

Directing the concerned for providing adequate potable water, uninterrupted electricity supply, 24×7 health facilities, ration, LPG and transport facilities to the people, the Divisional Commissioner also asked the concerned for maintaining proper sanitation around the Mosques and Eidgahs during the festival of Eid-ul-Azha.

Khan directed the Traffic Department to ensure proper regulation of traffic movement to avoid any inconvenience to the devotees. He stressed on better coordination among the concerned departments and other concerned agencies for smooth conduct of Eid-ul- Azha festival.

Regarding Muharram arrangements, the Divisional Commissioner directed all Deputy Commissioners to hold a preliminary meeting with sectoral officers and religious organizations in their respective districts.          He also asked them to finalize all arrangements with regard to essential supplies including drinking water, uninterrupted electricity supply, additional gensets, sanitation drive in and around all Imam-Baras, fire services, street lighting, ration, Medical facilities, Joint control room, traffic management, firewood, deployment of magistracy, security, requirement of NGO services, route plan and other necessary arrangements.

MLA Zadibal Abid Ansari, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, SSP Traffic, Deputy Director FCS&CA, Superintending Engineers from PDD, R&B, PHE, Joint Commissioner SMC, Senior Officers from Police, Drug Controller Organization, Legal Metrology, Food Safety Standards, Health, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, WAKF Board, Assistant Commissioner, Representatives from Shia Anjumans and other concerned officials were present in the meeting. Whereas Deputy Commissioners of rest Valley districts and Leh and Kargil participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
