Engage, team-up, inspire to bring out students’ potential: Speaker Assembly

Jammu/ April, 17: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta urging teachers for maximizing student learning by employing three point strategy – engage, collaborate and inspire, said education is a key factor and teachers play a critical role in shaping nation’s future, its identity and destiny.

The Speaker said this while addressing the gathering of students, parents and faculty at Govt Higher Secondary School, Sunjwan.

While speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said teaching is a noble profession and teachers should educate students with a sentiment of service as the prime responsibility of shaping, mentoring and guiding the future of the nation lies in their hands.

Kavinder Gupta said “Onus of teaching should be on offering their services to enhance learning experiences so that students grow into their full potential,” he said adding that quality of a nation’s human capital dictates its rise or fall in importance and fortune.

Stressing on importance of inculcating cultural education in students, he asked teachers to find the balance between what can be measured – grades – and what can only be observed: values and character and help students to become the best version of themselves.

Interacting with the students, the Speaker asked them to work hard and strive high.

“This opportunity to interact with students gives me an inspiration and insight as to how to proceed further to ensure all round development so that the benefits reach these young people who are going to be champions of the state and nation,” he said.

Urging for undertaking plantation drives, he asked the students to plant and adopt a tree each and care for it for as long as they are in the school.

Responding to the demands of the students regarding requirement of desks, the Speaker announced funds to be provided by him for 100 desks for the institution.

The Speaker also promised the students that he will take up their demand regarding introduction of commerce system in the school with the Education Minister at the earliest.

During the visit, the Speaker inspected the progress on works being undertaken to develop the institution into a model school equipped with all necessary modern facilities and work on developing amenities including classrooms, new labs, smart classes, school grounds, mini stadium, parking lot, washrooms, plantation drives are being undertaken at full pace.

A small play was also presented on the occasion highlighting the importance of education.

The Speaker also provided cash prize to the students for their excellent performance.

Senior Political Leader Baldev Singh Baloria, Er Ashwani Khosla, Principal Thakur Prem Singh Parents, faculty, members from local community and students in large numbers were present on the occasion.

Later the speaker inaugurated multiple works for construction of lane and drain in Gandhi Nagar constituency. The works include construction of drain at Mistri Mohallah being constructed by PWD (R&B) and Drain at Ward No 53 which is being executed by JMC and is scheduled to be completed soon.
