Director Agri(J) reviews agriculture schemes at Dansal Sub-Divn

Jammu: Director Agriculture , Hari Krishan Razdan, accompanied by team of officers visited  farmers’ fields at Dansal, Badsu and other areas to monitor the progress of various Farmers’ welfare schemes, here  Wednesday.

Interacting with the farmers at village Badsu, Director Agriculture said  some area of  land must be used for cultivation of pulses which besides giving good returns will improve the fertility  of soil in Kandi belt and coverage of fallow areas. He asked them to diversify their farming through apiculture, mushroom growing, seed production, vegetable cultivation, oilseed and pulse production to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer’s income by 2022.

Earlier,  during the review meeting  at Dansal Agriculture Sub-Division,  he asked the field functionaries to make all out efforts to introduce different technological interventions and adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) for the cultivation of various crops  to improve the economic status of the farmers. He directed the field functionaries to reach out to the farmers to  aware them about  welfare schemes like Soil Health Card Scheme (SCHS), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFSBY), Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS), National Mission on Agriculture Extension & Technology (NMAET-ATMA), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY). Director also stressed   for removing the constraints in pulse cultivation.

L. Bhagat, Joint Director  Agriculture Extension,   stressed for bringing  more area under organic farming and vermi-composting as there is great potential due to sufficient cattle population per household. He also stressed on the formation of Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs), Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) involving the progressive and the women farmers of the area.

Among others,  Jagmohan Bhat, District Officer, Jai Gopal, DAO (Ext),  B. B. Sidha, Dy Project Director (ATMA), Dharmesh Vaid, SDAO Dansal, Bhupinder Gupta, SMS (SDL), Vivek Kohli, SMS (SDL), Vikas Sharma AEO (Information), Ajeet Singh AEO(Inputs), Surinder Gupta AEO, Ashwani Gupta AEO, Varinder Matoo AEO, Javaid Ahmad Bhat AEO, JAEOs and AEAs of the Dansal Sub-Division were present on the occasion.
