Anantnag: Government Forces fired tear-smoke shells to disperse stone-throwing protesters in Hernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday morning.
The locals resorted to stone-throwing after Forces personnel allegedly thrashed a cab driver. Locals alleged that Forces action was uncalled for and it has become a routine for these men in uniform to violate Rule of Law in broad day light.
Witnesses said that Forces personnel had laid a naka and were frisking the vehicles and people after stopping them. “The cab driver had an argument with them after which a couple of them pounced upon them. Forces personnel thrashed the driver that attracted the attention of passersby who pelted stones on them.”
A police official said that some miscreants pelted stones on Forces personnel who exercised restraint and dispersed them peacefully.
