They were demanding action CRPF troopers who allegedly thrashed few students in Chareel village, five kilometres ahead of Banihal.

The students alleged that the troopers while travelling from Kashmir to Jammu thrashed few students. “After the students protested against the CRPF action, policemen resorted to baton charge,” said a witness.

Reports also said that a massive protest was staged in Banihal town after the news of Chareel incident spread in the area.

The incident comes a day after dozens of students suffered injuries in forces action during clashes in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley against an assault on students at Govt Degree College Pulwama last week.
