Srinagar: Alleging that every parameter of militancy has shown a worsening trend under BJP government, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asked them (BJP leaders) to be honest and admit that you have made a mess in the state since 2015.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter Vice President of the National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah said “ At least be honest & admit you guys in the BJP have made a right royal mess in the state since 2015. Every parameter of militancy has shown a worsening trend under this government”.
Omar was replying to a tweet by Minister of State (MoS) Home Kiran Rijiju which reads “  To say that BJP is responsible for problems in J&K is very unfortunate. Our government is trying to find out a solution and the efforts are genuine”.
PDP and BJP formed a coalition government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2015 after no party could get the magic number of 44 seats in the 87-member House in general elections. After the death of Mr Mufti, his daughter Mehbooba Mufti become the Chief Minister with the support of BJP in the state. However, she had to resign last month after BJP pulled out from the coalition after sharing power for more than three years, alleging the government ignored Jammu and Ladakh. However, during the coalition regime, violence witnessed surge and over a hundred of youths, mostly from south Kashmir, joined militant organizations. Killing of youths in security force action, particularly near the encounter sites, also recorded increase during the PDP-BJP rule.
Ms Mehmooba Mufti has recently warned centre that any attempt to break PDP will have serious implications as more Syed Salahuddin (Chief of Hizbul Mujahideen) and Mohammad Yaseen Malik (Chief of JKLF) will born again. She blamed BJP after four PDP MLAs revolted against her leadership and openly claimed that they will form government with BJP in the state.
Governor NN Vohra who has imposed Governor rule in the state, has put the Assembly under suspended animation when almost mainstream parties, barring BJP, are demanding dissolution of the House.
The PDP has 28 MLAs followed by BJP 25, all from Jammu region, NC 15 and Congress 12 while Peoples Conference, supporting BJP has two, CPI(M) one and four independents.
