Srinagar/July,16: One militants was on Saturday morning killed in a gunfight in Kupwara districts of North Kashmir and in a grenade throwing incident in South Kashmir’s Shopian district two army men were reported injured.
Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said ‘an encounter broke out Saturday morning between the government forces and the militants in the forests of North Kashmi’s Kupwara district.
‘Government forces launched a search operation in the forest of Kupwara following information about presence of militants there.It was a specific operation based on intelligence inputs and the operation is now over,” Kalia added.
Meanwhile a police official said that a grenade was lobbed towards the army patrol party in Ahgam area of Shopian in south Kashmir and two army men were injured. The area has been cordoned off, said the police official.
