Kargil: The Interzonal Volley Ball, Hand Ball and Kho Kho tournaments organized by the District Youth Services and Sports Department Kargil concluded at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium here Wednesday.
In the finals played on the occasion, the Under 17 Kho Kho and Hand Ball matches under the Girls category were won by Kargil Zone by defeating Tai Suru Zone and Sankoo Zone respectively. Under the Boys Category also, Kargil Zone yet again emerged victorious by defeating Sankoo Zone in Hand Ball and Volley Ball matches.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Vikas Kundal was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address the DC while congratulating the players for their active participation in the tournaments expressed hope that they will continue to strive hard so that they are in a position to excel in their sporting talents.
The DC also underlined the importance of games and sports in maintaining physical and mental activity and said engagement in sporting activities play a greater role in orienting the energy of youth towards constructive activities.
Later the DC also distributed mementoes, medals and certificates among the players.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, a number of senior officers from the Civil Administration besides a large number of students from different schools were present on the occasion.
