Mehbooba’s challenges in election time

Though PDP’s dissident legislators are attributing failures of Mehbooba Mufti as Chief Minister to the accommodation and adjustment of her close family relations on key positions both in the government and the party but ironically the dissidents are either themselves the products of family or are propagating politics with the intents of promoting family politics. The PDP dissidents while soliciting public support for end to rise of family politics in the state tend to project a man like Sajaad Gani Lone as candidate for the position of Chief Minister and had the dissidents been serious about the fight against the rise of family politics in the state then they would think thousand time before naming Sajaad Gani Lone as their leader as Lone himself is a product of family politics. Interestingly one of the leading PDP dissidents Imran Raza Ansari a former minister of the Mehbooba led PDP-BJP coalition government is himself a product of family politics and he has already endorsed the induction of his uncle Abid Ansari into the electoral politics. Imran Raza Ansari must not forget that his uncle Abid Ansari did not join politics in the lifetime of his father Molvi Inftikhari Hussain Ansari and as such Imran Ansari being himself a promoter of family politics ceases the right to talk about the fight against the rise of family politics in the state. Another dissident PDP legislator Javed Hussain Baig showing inclination to the join Ansari led group of rebels has been inducted into the PDP and offered part mandate on the recommendations of his uncle Muzaffar Hussain Baig and he contested from Baramulla after his uncle vacated the seat for him for 2014 assembly elections.

The dissidents being themselves the products of family politics cease the moral right to fight against dynasty politics and keeping in view BJP’s backstabbing on article 370 and article 35 A during its three years of alliance with BJP no other alliance of any Kashmir centric political group would work in Jammu & Kashmir state.

Had Muzaffar Baig not been elected to Lok Sabha before 2014 assembly elections then Javed Baig won’t have got the opportunity to contest assembly election from Baramulla. What matters the most for the people of Kashmir valley is the unacceptability of Sajaad Gani Lone for the position of Chief Minister as Lone is the only ally of BJP in Kashmir and BJP even during its more than three year’s of alliance with PDP very clearly showed it unwillingness to budge even an inch from its core political agenda on the top of which is the abrogation of article 370 of Indian constitution guaranteeing special status to Jammu & Kashmir and article 35 A protecting the protecting the property rights of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
