Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan Friday said that the Power Development Department (PDD) Division of district Budgam will be segregated into two separate divisions which are main Budgam and Chadoora.

The Divisional Commissioner made this direction while reviewing the rationalization of power sector in district Budgam.

The meeting was informed that presently 3200 substations are linked with PDD division Budgam which is very high as compared to other districts.

In order to reduce the extra burden on PDD division Budgam, the Divisional Commissioner directed Superintending Engineer (SE) PDD to segregate PDD division Budgam into two divisions which are main Budgam and Chadoora.

He also directed DC Budgam, SE PDD and concerned Tehsildars to prepare a complete proposal in which they will indicate revenue villages, number of tehsils, total number of consumers, PDD employees working in the district Budgam, shifting of utilities besides other related matters and send this complete proposal to the Divisional Commissioner’s office within 10 days for necessary action.

Khan reiterated that the installation of two PDD divisions in Budgam district will directly benefit consumers which will receive hassle-free electricity in winter days.

He asked concerned officers to maintain close coordination so that the groundwork on this project will be started soon.

Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Executive Director JKSPDC, SE PDD, SE EM&RE, Assistant Commissioner and other officers were present in the meeting whereas Deputy District Commissioner Budgam participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
