Unfortunately the Governor N N Vohra has not taken serious note of the demands of even national apex media bodies like Editors Guild of India and Press Council of India for action against Lal Singh over his warnings to Kashmiri journalists. Warning of Lal Singh is not an ordinary threat but the words he used in his statement to threaten Kashmiri journalists were sufficient enough for Vohra administration to understand the gravity of the threat. Threatening Kashmiri journalist of a “ Shujaat Bukhari like incident” shows the intents of Lal Singh against Kashmir and Kashmiris. Not only the Kashmiri journalist but the national apex media bodies like Editors Guild of India and Press Council of India have demanded action against Lal Singh. Shockingly the top BJP leaders at the centre and in the state talk much about the threats of militant groups in Kashmir valley but they have choosen to remain silent over the warnings of Lal Singh against Kashmir media and highly provocative statements against top Kashmiri mainstream leaders. Though taking out a rally in support of his demand for CBI inquiry into the rape and murder of an eight year old minor bakerwal muslim girl is the democratic right of Lal Singh but by allowing his brother to hurl abuses on PDP leader and then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti almost over a month ago during a rally in Jammu Lal Singh proved himself a hate monger and also showed his intents of generating anti-Kashmiri sentiments in hindu dominated districts of Jammu region. Fact remains that Lal Singh started spewing venom against Kashmiris and their leaders from the day he was ousted from the previous PDP-BJP coalition ministry. The intents of Lal Singh in continuing a vicious campaign over the demand for CBI inquiry into the Kathua rape and murder case have been though understood by people of all shades but no one from the Jammu & Kashmir Government and central high command of the BJP bothers to act against Lal Singh for abusing Kashmiri leaders and threatening Kashmiri journalists.
It is for the Vohra administration to take note of the unlawful activities of Lal Singh and take stringent measures for establishing the rule of law in Jammu where polarizing sentiments are being generated to vitiate atmosphere of regional and religious harmony.
Though heads of BJP central leaders should have come down in shame over the way Lal Singh has come out in open support of those arrested on charges of raping and murdering a minor muslim bakerwal girl in Rasana village of Kathua district and warned Kashmiri journalist of “Shujaat Bukhari like incident” but they shamelessly extend overt and covert support to Lal Singh over a vicious campaign on Kathua rape and murder case and don’t break silence over the warning to Kashmiri journalists. It is for the Vohra administration to take note of the unlawful activities of Lal Singh and take stringent measures for establishing the rule of law in Jammu where polarizing sentiments are being generated to vitiate atmosphere of regional and religious harmony.
