Militant killings spark shutdown in parts of Srinagar and Southern Kashmir

Srinagar: Parts of Kashmir capital Srinagar observed shutdown against the killing of local militant Dawood Ahmed Sofi. Dawood was one among four militants killed in Khirhama Nowshera encounter in South Kashmir on Friday.
Besides, Dawood of HMT Srinagar, Adil Rehman Bhat from Sheetipora Bijbehara and Muhammad Ashraf Itoo from Hatiegam Bijbehara and Majid Manzoor Dar from Telangan Pulwama were also killed in the encounter. A cop Ashiq Hussain ofTainmulla Chitergull and a civilian Muhammad Yousuf Rather also lost their lives in gunfight.
Reports said that all shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed in parts of Srinagar including HMT, Mustafa Abad, Shalteng, Umar Abdad, Parimpora, Narbal, Zainakoot, Sharif Abad, Maloora and Mujgund.
A large number of people visited the slain militants family to express sympathies with the bereaved.
Meanwhile, the native towns of other slain militants remained also shut. Reports said that a complete shutdown is being observed in Sri Gufwara, Bijbehara and Pulwama.
