Nirmal for adopting healthy lifestyle to stay fit

Jammu: “Yoga is significant to discover inner peace; sense of oneness with yourself, symbolizes harmony between man and nature and form a balance between mind and body,” said Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Dr Nirmal Singh during the International Yoga Day celebrations held at Heartfulness Yoga and Meditation Centre, Sehora, Camp Gol Gujral here Thursday.

MLA, Sukhnandan Choudhary was also present in the function.

Throwing light on the significance of Yoga Day, the Speaker advised the people not to lean towards materialism and asked them to adopt healthy lifestyle to stay fit and overcome diseases.

He said the peace and harmony brought by Yoga is worth experiencing for all and meditation on heart leads one to ascertain internal happiness and purity.

“An invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition, ‘Yoga’ is considered to be an age old mental, physical and spiritual practice and now, it has turned into a rage across the world, the Speaker said, adding that, the practice of Yoga is believed to help in transforming the body and mind of the practitioners.

Reciting a famous Sanskrit phrase “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, the Speaker said the entire world is like a tightly knit family and every member of the family must adopt a holistic approach to health and wellbeing by changing lifestyle and creating consciousness towards wellbeing”, Dr Singh maintained.

The Speaker also released a book on Heart-Based Meditations for spiritual transformation – ‘The Heartfulness Way’ by Global Heartfulness Teacher and Spiritual Master Kamlesh D Patel and HFN practitioner Joshua Pollock and said the book will play a great contributing factor towards spreading healthiness all over.

With this, the weeklong Heartfulness Wellness Yoga and Meditation camp to promote wellness through meditation, yoga asanas and pranayam also concluded.

The participants exhibited various postures and pranayam techniques which they have practiced during the camp under the guidance of Heartfulness Yoga teacher Arun Jandial and also shared their experiences of the camp.

To mark the day, the dignitaries also planted plants in the centre and distributed mementos to the participants of the camp. The function was presided over by Zonal Coordinator, HYMC, Adarsh Sharma
