Slain Shujaat’s Rasm-e-Charum observed at his native village

Srinagar: Rasm-e-Chahrum of senior jiournalist, editor-in-chief of ‘Daily Rising Kashmir’, Shujaat Bukhari was Monday observed at his residence in Kreeri area of north Baramulla district.
Thousands of people from all walks of life started reaching the residence of a prominent journalist in Kreeri to participate in his congregational Fathea Khawani.
Shujaat Bukhari was martyred after he was leaving his office in Press Enclave here in Lal Chowk on last Thursday evening, leaving people especially the entire media fraternity in shock.
Meanwhile, thousands of people participated in the congregational Fateha Khawani of a slain journalist.
Besides relatives, the local mourners and others also paid floral tributes to the slain journalist. They also prayed for the heavenly abode of the slain RK editor.
The politicians, civil society members, journalists, Advocates, writers and others also visited the residence of the slain journalist.
The Adbi Markaz Kamraz had also organized a programme in remembrance of the Shujaat Bukhari who was also the president of the organization.
Those who attended the function and paid tributes to the slain journalist at his home include Government of India’s special representative, Dineshwar Sharma, MP (Rajya Sabha) Ghulam Nabi Azad, Minister for higher Education Imran Ansari, Minister for Tourism Tassaduq Mufti, Minister for Education Choudhary Zulfikar Ali, former Minister Abdul Haq Khan, Secretary Sports council Waheed Parra, former minister Farooq Andrabi, senior Congress leader and former union minister Saif-ud-din Soz, Former Air Vice-Marshal Kapil Kak, Editor-in chief Kashmir News Service (KNS), Muhammad Aslam Bhat JK Editors’ Forum members, Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Hanjura, Professor Rehman Rahi, Javiad Beig, Waheed Jeelani, Mehboob Beg, Rafi Mir, Farooq Shah Secretary School Education, MLA Kokernag Abdul Rahim Rather, MLA Noorabad Majeed Padroo, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Legilative Council Chairman Haji Inayat Ali, Director archives, archaeology and museums, J&K, Muner-ul-Islam, Hurriyat (M) leaders Moulana Syed Rehman Shamas, Hurriyat (G) chief spokesman G A Gulzar, High Court Bar Association G M Shaheen, Hurriyat leader Muhammad Attai, MLA Kangan Mian Altaf, patron AKM Dr Mashal Sultanpori, Mushtaq Sagar, Aziz Hajini, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Masood Abbad Ansari, Ghulam Rasool Hami, Altaf Andrabi, Nazim Nazir, Syed Rafiq Ahmad Shah, Nazir Shahbaz, Kaleem Bashir and others.
The speakers also threw light over the contribution of senior journalist and highlighted his services in the field of journalism and Kashmir struggle.
Those who spoke on the occasion include Saif-ud-din Soz, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Professor Rehman Rahi, Masood Abbad Ansari, Syed Rehman Shamas, G A Gulzar, Mushtaq Sagar, Ghulam Rasool Hami, Altaf Andrabi, Nazim Nazir, Syed Rafiq Ahmad Shah, Nazir Shahbaz, Kaleem Bashir and G M Shaheen. (KNS)
