Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police Wednesday afternoon foiled a sit-in staged by teachers joint action committee outside civil secretariat Srinagar and took away the leaders of various associations in police vehicles. They were later lodged at Shaheed Gunj Police station.
When contacted President Jammu & Kashmir Teachers Forum Abdul Quayoom Wani said “Around 80 representatives are lodged in Police station. We were not allowed to stage sit-in outside secretariat and were cane charged by the police. ”
Meanwhile Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers held massive protests in several parts of Kashmir valley to press hard for their demands mainly implementation of 7th pay commission besides de-linking their salary from Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD).
Massive protests erupted at district level against the government for their “in-different attitude” towards SSA teachers.
