Srinagar: A police constable and his sister were injured after gunmen opened fire in Katho Hallan village of Kellar in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday night.
A local media report here Wednesday evening said that the gunmen fired upon Rayees Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Hassan near his home at Katho Hallan village. His sister was also injured in the firing incident. Lone suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to the nearby district hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar in critical condition.
His minor sister suffered bullet injury in her leg. He condition is stated to be stable.
“Lone was shot at by the militants after they barged inside their home. He was working as a constable,” said SSP Shopian Shailendra Mishra, according to the report. The government forces cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the assailants.
