Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir police spokesman said that there was no political prisoner lodged in any jails of the state.
However, he said, close to two dozen persons are lodged under various segments, including Public Safety Act (PSA) and for secessionist activities in the state.
Reacting to local media reports that this Eid no political prisoner likely to walk out of jail out of 3000 in state jails, including 1500 political prisoners quoting Kashmir High Court Bar Association, police spokesman said it is clarified that there are no such political prisoner lodged in the jails.
“However, about close to two dozen are lodged under various segments including Public Safety Act (PSA), convicts and under trail for secessionist activities”, he said adding the figure quoted is incorrect.
