Samba/ April,15: A team of the legal Metrology Department headed by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Ajay Kumar Verma and Inspector Narinder Makhnotra conducted month long intensive checking drive in Samba, Vijaypur, Bari Brahmana and adjoining areas.
Various business establishments were inspected during the drive and a fine of Rs 50500 was imposed on the erring traders for violation of various provisions of J&K Standard of weights and Measures Enforcement Act 2011 and other Legal Metrology and Weights and Measures Laws.
The Department has directed all the traders to use only those Weights and Measures and weighing and Measuring Instruments for Business transactions which have been duly verified and authenticated by the Legal Metrology Department and ensure that Maximum Retail Price (MRP), Date of packing (PKD), Net Contents and complete address of the Manufacturer/Packer and Customer care Number have been declared on the Commodities to be sold in package form.
