Srinagar: A six-day Ramadhan special festival ‘Shahr-u-Ramadhan’ organised by Department of Students Welfare University of Kashmir in collaboration with Beeline Services Srinagar concluded here at KU on Saturday.
On the concluding day of the festival a valedictory/prize distribution
ceremony was held at KU’s Gandhi Bhawan auditorium which was presided
over by KU’s Vice Chancellor Prof Khursheed Iqbal Andrabi. While giving away the prizes Prof Andrabi said in his remarks ” We should try to inculcate the true meaning and teachings of Islam in our children from the very beginning and at the same time we have to overcome sectarian strife which is presently causing huge damage to our religion all over the world.”
Prof Andrabi appreciated the efforts of the Department of Students Welfare for organising a successful Ramadhan festival in which more than 300 students from various schools, colleges and Universities of the valley participated.Registrar KU Prof Khurshid A Butt in his address assured complete support of the Varsity administration towards such programs which are aimed at bringing the over personality development of the young students While as Dean Social Sciences Prof Asifa Jan congratulated the young students for bringing laurels to their institutions.
Dean Students Welfare PROF GN Khaki thanked the participants from various schools ,colleges and Universities of the valley and congratulated their institutional heads for preparing these young students and encouraging them to participate in such programs. The organising Secretary of the festival Cultural Officer KU Shahid Ali Khan conducted the proceedings of the session and also proposed
vote of thanks .
In Islamic Calligraphy competition Amreen Mushtaq from Dept of Pharmaceutical Sciences KU bagged the first position while as Irtiqa Hameed from Govt Higher Secondary School Nawakadal and Bisma Bashir from Institute of Music and Fine Arts KU bagged second and third position respectively. Saif Ali Joo from Institute of Technology Zakura Campus KU and Syed Fatima from Dept of Electronics KU bagged fourth and fifth position.
In Islamic Quiz competition Fazil Gulzar from Dept of Islamic Studies KU bagged first position while as Abdul Majid Kirmani from Abdul Ahad College Bemina and Vakeel Ahmad Rather from GDC Bijbehara bagged second and third position respectively. Junaid Rouf from Amar Singh College Srinagar and Amir Nazir from Dept of History KU bagged fourth and fifth position in this category.
In Husn-e-Azaan competition Asif Bhat from Gandhi Memorial College Srinagar bagged the first position while As Amir Nabi Ganaie from GDC Pampore and Mohammad Shoib Iqbal from SSM college of engineering bagged the second and third position respectively. Adil Akram from GDC Pulwama and Showkat Ahmad Bhat from Dept of LAW KU bagged the fourth and fifth position in his category.
In Husn-e-Qirat competition Asif Ahamd Bhat from Gandhi Memorial College bagged the first position while As Umer Hamid Parrey from GDC Sopore and Mohammad Shoib Iqbal from SSM college of engineering baggged the second and third position respectively. Bilal Ahmad Rather from Govt Higher Secondary School Wathoora and Nisar Khaliq Tantrey from Gulzar Memorial College of Education Sopore bagged the fourth and fifth position in this category.In Husn-e- Naat competition Sameer Ahmad Shah from Amar Singh College bagged the first position while As Abid Hameed Mir from Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Nawakadal and Tawfeeq Bashir From DDE KU bagged the second and third position respectively. Aliya Jan and Owais Sofi bagged the fourth and fifth position inthis category.
