Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have arrested three burglars and recovered stolen property and cash worth lakhs of rupees in the down town Srinagar, a police spokesman said here on Saturday afternoon.
He said a written complaint was received from one Manzoor Ahmad Wani, a resident of Botashah Kadal in the outskirts that he parked his vehicle at Nowhatta and went to offer prayers in a mosque. However, on his return he found pashmena shawls worth Rs 3,50,00 which were kept in the car missing.
Spokesman said that a case FIR was registered and investigation take up by a police team headed by Station House Officer (SHO) Wasim Ahmad. However, within hour the police team could crack the burglary and arrested one Ubaid Farooq Rather, a resident of Tibetien colony, Eidgah. The stolen property worth lakhs of rupees has been recovered, he said adding investigation is going on and more arrests are expected.
He said in another case police arrested one Amir Altaf Zargar and recovered gold worth Rs one lac at Nowhatta.
He said police also solved another burglary case and arrested an accused Basit Ahmad Bhat and recovered LED and cash worth Rs 40000 in the down town.
