Srinagar: The opposition mainstream parties on Friday said that the central as well as the state government should come clear about Government of India’s stand over the return of two power projects.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who is on two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir had said that the centre has apprised Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti about its stand on the state’s demand for return of two power projects.
When contacted National Conference (NC) provincial president, Nasir Aslam Wani said that they don’t have any hope over return of power projects.
“Government of India must make their stand clear over the return of power projects. We don’t know what CM has been apprised and what not. I believe that these statements are aimed to befool the people,” he said.
He added that such statements are also resulting in alienation between the people and the government.
When contacted Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice President, G N Monga said that if centre has apprised CM about its stand then she must make it public.
“I don’t understand if Mehbooba was apprised by the centre then why she maintained silence so far,” he said, adding that she should have made the centre’s stand public so that people could be aware about the development.
CPI (M) senior leader and MLA Kulgam, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami said that the Union Home Minister has not mentioned what government of India has apprised Chief Minister over the return of power projects.
“The return of power projects is a long pending demand of people and there is conscientious of all the parties in this regard. We believe that the return of power projects is not any favour for JK people. The demand should be fulfilled as it has also been mentioned in PDP-BJP’s agenda of alliance,” he said.
Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) chairman and MLA Khansahib, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen when contacted said  that the return of power projects is not an issue of Mehbooba Mufti but the issue of people of Kashmir. “What Chief Minister has been apprised should be made public,” he said.
“The statements union leaders have made so far are confusing. They don’t utter what exactly they want to convey and want to do,” he said, adding that they should openly speak in one language so that the people will come to know about the development of any issue including talks as well as the return of power projects.
