Srinagar/April 12:  The entry of an Army vehicle into Degree College Pulwama in South Kashmir, sparked protest and stone-pelting on Wednesday while College authorities said they don’t know the purpose of the Army’s presence inside the College.
Eyewitnesses said an army Casper vehicle from 55 Rashtriya Rifles made it’s entry inside the Degree College Pulwama when majority of the students were busy taking classes. As the Army vehicles stopped in the premises of the College, agitated students left the classes and assembled in the College ground, raising massive pro-freedom slogans.
Witnesses added that none of the army man alighted from the vehicle. After raising slogans continuously for 15 minutes, the agitated students resorted to stone-pelting forcing army to retreat from the College premises.
When contacted, College authorities said that they don’t know the purpose of army presence inside the college. “It has happened first time that any army vehicle has entered into the College premises without permission. The incident only created chaos and confusion,” they said.
Efforts to reach out Defense spokesperson didn’t materialize as his phone was not reachable.
