Innovations must for delivering engineering solutions: R&B Minister

Jammu: Minister for Public Works and Culture, Naeem Akhter Saturday underlined the need for innovations to bring  engineering solutions in construction sector.

Speaking at a Presentation cum Seminar on “Cold Mix Technology as drafted in IRC CODE SP 100”  organised by Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu , the Minister asked the engineers to update their knowledge about  technical  advancements  to meet the future challenges in their work.

The event organised by IoE Jammu in collaboration with Tinna Rubber and Infrastructure Limited was also attended by Minister of State for Public Works, Technical Education, Rural Development, Culture and other Departments, Shakti Raj Parihar and P K H Singh, VSM, Chief Engineer, H.Q. Sampark were the Guests of honour.

The Minister advised the engineers to work with determination and put their technical expertise and knowledge to best use. He advised them to put the work to tenders in advance to avoid time over run and cost overrun. He appreciated engineers of the state for the work done and asked the fraternity to stay technically smart to meet the future challenges in their work. He suggested for organising technical courses at the Institution of Engineers (India) at its centres in Jammu and Srinagar in collaboration with the engineering departments for upgrading the skill and knowledge of young engineers enabling them to meet the professional requirements in the market.

In his address,  Shakti Raj Parihar said the cold mix technology should be applied in inaccessible areas of the state so that the roads projects in progress are completed well in time.

P K H Singh said the cold mix technology is already in the process of execution in their organization.

The demonstration of Cold Mix Technology was conducted by Tinna Rubber & Infrastructure Ltd. New Delhi under the supervision of  B. L. Rawal, MIE, Advisor Technical of the organization and  Rajeev Juneja, General Manager(Roads Sector) and all the engineers from different department witnessed the implementation of technology in the field.

Earlier, Er Ravi Chanyal, FIE Chairman, IEI, Jammu Centre apprised the dignitaries and the audience about the functioning of the Institution and thanked the Govt. for approving ACP for the engineers and submitted for consideration of regularization of engineers at all levels.

The presentation on Cold Mix Technology was given by Dr. P. K. Jain, Retired Chief Scientist and Advisor to Pavement Engineering and Materials Area CRRI New Delhi and IAHE Faculty, presently consultant to Tinna Rubber and Infrastructure Limited. Er. B. L. Rawal, MIE, Former Hony. Secretary IEI Jammu Centre and coordinator of the seminar conducted the proceedings of the technical session.

A Large Number of Engineers, members, Institutional Members, Officers from BRO, professors, scientists, students and members of the civil society from all walks of life attended the Presentation/Seminar.

Er. Vijay Sharma, MIE; Honorary Secretary conducted the proceedings of the seminar, and presented the vote of thanks to the august gathering.
