Kupwara/April 12:  Rich tributes were paid to those who had succumbed to bullets of security forces on the same day last year in Handwara. Hundreds of people hailing from different walks of life assembled to participate in the condolence meet.
Speaking on the occasion Aijaz Sofi President Trader’s Federation Handwara said that unless Kashmir issue is not resolved peace will never return between India and Pakistan. Prominent lawyer and social activist Advocate Ghulam Nabi Khan added that state is without a law and what suits to police and civil administration has become law of the land. Renowned religious and social activist Manzoor Ahmad Kirmani asked for self introspection.
AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed condemned Govt. for shielding culprits in uniform. He said “the huge sacrifices laid by people from Karnah to Kishtawar will not go waste. Govt. has promised action against killers of Nayeem and others within a month but the credibility of the Govt. has came under big doubt as nothing has been done till date. It is Mehbooba Mufti who had promised jobs and other ex-gratia to the members of families of five victims. Seeking ex-gratia for martyrs does not amount to seeking undue favour from the Govt. or does not mean sell out of the sacrifices”. Er. Rasheed reiterated that Kashmiris have no scope to forget their huge sacrifices and only tribute to Martyrs is to create unity among masses and remain firm on demand of right to self determination.
Er. Rasheed reminded New Delhi that the complete shutdown in Chinab and Pir Panchal valley should be an eye opener for those claiming movement to be confined to Kashmir valley only. Later hundreds of protestors led by Er. Rasheed sat on a peaceful sit in outside DC Office Kupwara, asking immediate arrest of the cops in uniform who were involved in Handwara massacre. The sit in was on when reports last came in.
