Srinagar: Clashes broke out in Pantha Chowk in the outskirts of Srinagar Srinagar on Tuesday after the government forces allegedly entered into a mosque to stop anthems being played over its public address system.
Reports said that the forces took exception to ‘taranas’ being played from the mosque in Pantha Chowk and tried to stop their broadcast.However, youth protested against the forces’ action, triggering clashes between the two sides.
Reports said that three minor boys were detained by the forces during the clashes, which erupted even as the area was witnessing shutdown against the killing of five civilians in forces’ action on protesters in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday. Joint Resistance Leadership has called for the shutdown.
