Udhampur: The Motor Vehicles Department Saturday felicitated the participants of weeklong celebration of 29th road safety week organized from 23th of April 2018 to 30th April, here at a function.
During the weeklong celebration series of activities were held by MVD in collaboration with District Administration, Information, Education and Traffic departments, District Police and Transport unions.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Rayees Bhat, was the chief guest while Additional District Development Commissioner Arvind Sharma was the guest of honour.
At the outset, the Regional Transport Officer Kuldeep Singh presented welcome address and gave detailed power point presentation about the activities held by the MVD during weeklong celebration of 29th road safety.
In his address, the chief guest complimented the Motor Vehicle Department for spearheading an intensive awareness campaign under Road Safety Week and asked the officials of concerned department besides traffic police to make it a regular activity.
The SSP also advised the participants as well as the students to use the zebra crossing while crossing the road. He asked them to be watchful while walking and as a co-passenger in the vehicle adding that they have every right to alert the driver to obey traffic rules to avoid any accident.
Later, SSP and ADDC felicitated the students, media persons and transporters for actively participating in the week long celebration of this campaign. Besides mementoes, certificates of appreciations, awards, medals were also given to all the winners of the painting competition on the occasion.
