Hours after taking oath as new Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta invited condemnation from people of all hues over the remark on Kathua rape and murder case as he said the rape and murder of Kathua minor girl is a minor incident. Kavinder a man from RSS background has made the highly condemnable remarks obviously to earn the blessings of his mentors in Nagpur and he by virtue of this controversial remark tried to appease those carrying out a vicious campaign over the demand for CBI probe into the rape and murder of an eight year old minor girl in Rasana village of the Hiranagar area of Kathua district. Whatever may be the political intents of new Deputy Chief Minister in calling the rape and murder of a minor girl a minor incident but unquestionable fact is that his highly condemnable remark over Kathua rape and murder case has brought into question his political wisdom as the Kathua minor rape case has condemned even by the UN Chief who called upon the Modi government to take all measures for the protection of women in India. As Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta holds the second highest office in the Jammu & Kashmir government and calling Kathua rape and murder condemned by the President and Prime of the country a minor incident amounts to disrespect to the highest constitutional and executive offices of the country.
Deputy Chief Minister has to oversee the working of the department the portfolios of which Chief Minister will allot to him but he has no constitutional or moral right to comment over a heinous crime already investigated by a premier investigative agency of the state government and challaned in the court of law.
Kavinder Gupta owes an unconditional apology not only to the Chief Minister and people of his but also to the people of entire India particularly those whose cries woke up both central and state government from deep slumber and ordinance both at the centre and in Jammu & Kashmir state was passed to allow court to award death penalty to rape accused convicts. Perhaps Kavinder Gupta is yet to know that rape and murder of minors can’t be a minor incident for the investigative agencies tasked the job of interrogating accused and the courts conducting the trial of the accused people. The trial of Kathua rape and murder case can’t be conducted at the whims and wishes of the public functionaries holding key positions in the government but on the basis of investigation reports, witnesses and evidences. Deputy Chief Minister has to oversee the working of the department the portfolios of which Chief Minister will allot to him but he has no constitutional or moral right to comment over a heinous crime already investigated by a premier investigative agency of the state government and challaned in the court of law.
