Bla: As part of the 29th Road Safety Week across the state, a special awareness programme was Thursday organised in a local educational institute of Sopore area of Baramulla District with Regional Transport Officer Kashmir Khursheed Ahmad Shah as the chief guest. Programme was organised by Assistant Regional Transport Office Baramulla which marked the participation of a huge gathering of students of various educational institutions of the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore Ashiq Hussain Lilly, ARTO Noor udin Andrabi, Dy SP Traffic Baramulla, Students from various educational Institutions and various other concerned were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, a painting competition was organized in which students from several institutions participated. Best performing students were given awards for their felicitation.
Speaking on the occasion, RTO Kashmir emphasized upon the need for adopting necessary road safety measures for averting avoidable road accidents and loss of precious human life. Introducing the theme of the week “Sadak Suraksha – Jeevan Suraksha”, He appealed people particularly driver fraternity to avoid rash and aggressive driving and follow the traffic rules strictly beside stressing for awareness dissemination among people. Moreover, he urged for cooperation from transporters in particular and from the public in general in implementing various safety measures.
ADC hails the transport department for organizing such a programme and stressed the need for holding awareness camps with more frequency at the grassroots level so that the safety of life and property is ensured.
Meanwhile a question and answer session was also held during which students ask questions and get them answered from the concerned authorities present.
