Arrangements discussed for observing 100th Digi-Dhan mela at Udhampur

Udhampur/April,8: With an aim to mark the culmination of 100th Digi Dhan Mela on Ambedkar Jayanti and to promote the digital payments (cashless transactions) in the district, the district administration would be organizing various awareness programs on ‘financial literacy’ and ‘Benefits of cashless payments’ at Panchayat, Block and District level on the occasion.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Avny Lavasa told this during a meeting of district officers held to discuss the arrangements for celebration of 100th Digi Dhan Mela in the district.
During the meeting, the J&K Bank, CSC and other banks were asked to install their stalls and distribute publicity material promoting digital payments among the common masses in order to make cashless transactions a mass movement.
It was decided that the Assistant Commissioner Development would organize similar event in every block of the district. Similarly, District Panchayat Officer was directed to educate the people regarding the benefits of cashless transaction. They were also directed to make necessary arrangements so that the people could watch Prime Minister’s address, to be telecasted at 12:15 p.m, on the occasion. The ADC further directed Chief Education Officer to organize competitions like Quiz, Debate etc. both on the digital payments as well as Constitution of India. She also directed Block development officers to coordinate with officers of Municipality for distributing PoS machines among the merchants.
Pertinently, Digi Dhan Melas are being organized in 100 cities over a period of 100 days and will end on April 14.
ACD Om Prakash, Chief Planning Officer Ashok Khajuria, CEO Bishan Singh, PO-DRDA Dr. Jagdish Chander Mehra ,District Panchayat Officer Sandeep Seointra, DIO-NIC Anil Sharma, Bankers, Block Development Officers were present in the meeting.
