Srinagar/April,13: A spontaneous shutdown in North Kashmir’s Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districrs against the recent killing of civilians in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday crippled normal life in entire North Kashmir.
All shops and other commercial establishments are closed while skeletal movement of traffic was witnessed.
No separatist or militant outfit has called for a strike today. However, the Joint Resistance Leadership – an amalgam of separatist outfits – has urged people to hold peaceful protests after congregational Friday prayers.
Four civilians were killed after government forces opened fire on protesters near the site of a gunfight in Khudwani area of Kulgam on Wednesday.
