New Delhi: Ahead of the meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organsation(SCO) Summit in June this year, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is scheduled to visit China this month.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the SCO Summit and is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, premier Li Keqiang and other important leaders on the sidelines of this summit.
During his two-day visit to China, the NSA will be finalising the agenda of the PM’s meeting with Chinese leaders.
Mr Doval is expected to meet his counterpart Yang Jiechi and likely to discuss ways to reduce ongoing tension on the Sino-Indian border.
According to a top government source, the NSA is also likely to pitch for putting the proscribed Pakistani terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad in United Nation’s list of terror organisations.
China will be hosting the 2018 SCO Summit after taking over the rotating chair from Kazakhstan.
Founded in 2001, SCO is a Eurasian economic, political and security organisation. China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirgizstan, India and Pakistan are its permanent member and Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, and Mongolia have observer status at present.
