Srinagar/April/9;A spontaneous shutdown is being observed today in the Baroosa area in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district against the killing of a local youth in forces’ firing last year on this day when Srinagar-Budgam constituency went for polls.

Reports said all the shops and other business establishments are closed to mourn the killing.

According to locals, 20-year-old Umer Farooq Ganie was killed after the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel opened fire on a group of boys standing at Baroosa bypass without any provocation on this day last year.

The incident happened on the day Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary seat went for the polls. Eight civilians were killed in forces action in Budgam district.

Family as well the locals have sought a probe into the killing and stringent punishment to the guilty forces personnel.
