Shopian: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz Thursday flagged-off a group of 100 farmers for exposure tour to SKUAST-K Shalimar.
The tour was organized under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.
The DDC was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer, district Horticulture officers, and extension horticulture officers besides prominent persons from civil society.
On the occasion, the DDC stressed upon the farmers to fully acquaint themselves with the modern technologies adopted by University and progressive fruit growers, especially in the high-density plantation.
He said horticulture activities play an important role for the upliftment of farming community and is also the backbone of the rural economy.
He advised them to take full benefits of the government-sponsored schemes and asked the Chief Horticulture Officer to ensure more field visits for progressive farmers.
