Jammu/April,8: As many as 6884 cases were disposed off and Rs.3.91 crore was awarded in MACT cases while as Rs. 15.28 crore was settled in Bank recovery suits during the National Lok Adalat held across Jammu and Kashmir, a statement issued by J&K State Legal Services Authority said here Saturday.
According to the official statement issued by Presiding Officer, J&K Special Tribunal Jammu, R.K.Wattal, said J&K State Legal Services Authority organized wide range of National Lok Adalat across the State at J&K High Court, District and Tehsil level. The legal services were held under the Patronage of Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed , Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority, and under the guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority. At High Court Wing Jammu two benches were constituted one consisting of Puneet Gupta special Judge CBI Jammu and Muhammad Akram Chowdhary first Additional District Judge Jammu and second bench was headed by R.K.Wattal presiding Officer J&K Special Tribunal Jammu. At High wing Srinagar three benches were constituted one headed by Y.P.Kotwal Special Judge CBI Srinagar and assisted by Muhammad Shafi Khan former District Judge, second headed by C.L.Bowaria 4th Addl.Distt. Judge Srinagar and assisted by Rasheed Ahmad Lone former Distrcit Judge and third headed by M.Y.Akhoon Presiding Officer Food safety appellate Tribunal Srinagar and assisted by Surrender Sing P&T Magistrate Srinagar.
National Lok Adalat was organized in various tehsils and districts across Jammu region in which a total number of eight benches were constituted at District court complex Jammu. The first bench was presided over by Jaffer Husain Beig, Presiding Officer, MACT and Meyank Gupta, 3rd Additional Munsiff, Jammu, the second bench was presided over by Rajesh Sekhri, Additional District Judge (Bank Cases) Jammu and Kishore Kumar, 3rd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, the third bench which was headed by Subash Gupta, Additional District Judge (Matrimonial Cases) Jammu and Kusum Lata Pandita, Sub-Judge Jammu, the fourth bench which was headed by Yashpal Sharma, Special Excise Magistrate Jammu and Madhu Khajura, 2nd Additional Munsiff Jammu, the fifth bench which was headed by Sudhir Khajuria, Special Electricity Magistrate Jammu and Anjum Ara special Mobile Magistrate 13th Finance, Jammu, the sixth bench was headed by Mohammad Rafiq Chak, Special Municipal Magistrate Jammu and Arti Devi, Munsiff Jammu, the seventh bench was headed by Arti Mohan, Special MM (passenger Tax) Jammu and Parvaiz Iqbal, Additional Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) while the eighth bench at Jammu Railway Station was headed by Anoop Sharma, Special Railway Magistrate Jammu. At Udhampur, a National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions judge, K.S. Parihar, wherein a total of 6 benches were constituted in the district. The first bench was comprised of Principal District & Sessions Judge Udhampur, K.S. Parihar and Additional Session Judge Udhampur, Sudesh Sharma while the second bench has Additional District & Sessions Judge Udhampur, Sonia Gupta and District Judicial Mobile Magistrate (Traffic), Udhampur, Parveen Pandoh as its members. Besides, CJM Udhampur, R.K Dubey and Munsiff JMIC, Udhampur, Susheel Singh would be the members of bench number 3 while bench number 4 is comprised of Sub Judge Ramnagar, Renu Dogra and Tehsildar Ramnagar, Ramesh Singh. The fifth bench has Munsiff Majalta, T.A Magrey and Advocate, M.L Gupta while Munsiff Chenani, Smati Sharma constituted the 6th bench. A total of 75 cases of different nature were taken up, of which, 42 cases were settled on the spot. An amount of Rs 38, 34000 was realized in MACT cases while a total of Rs 2, 10000 were realized in various bank cases. Besides, fine amounting Rs 3100 was imposed in respect of various criminal compoundable cases. Similarly, a National Lok Adalat was held at Sub Judge Court Complex Ramnagar under the chairmanship of Sub Judge Ramnagar Renu Dogra under the guidance of State Legal Services Authority and Chairman District Legal Services Authority Udhampur. A total of 16 cases including pre-litigation matters, bank recovery, criminal compoundable and matrimonial issues were disposed off during the Lok Adalat. Two separate benches comprising Chairperson TLSC, (Sub Judge Ramnagar) Renu Dogra, Tehsildar Romesh Singh, SDPO Ramnagar, Advocate S.K Gupta, Advocate M.L Gupta, Advocate Rohin Bhardwaj, Vikrant Sharma were constituted on the occasion.
At Tehsil headquarters Bishnah, Akhnoor and R.S. Pura, separate benches were constituted which were presided over by Chairman Tehsil Legal Service Authority. Chairman Tehsil Legal Service Authority Jammu Sunit Gupta (CJM, Jammu ) and Secretary District Legal Service Authority Adnan Syed Sub Registrar Jammu also actively participated in Lok Adalat. A total number of 1197 were taken up, of which, 702 have been decided.
Besides, Additional District Magistrate, Jammu Arun Manhas also constituted separate revenue benches at different revenue Tehsil head quarters in which 351 revenue cases and cases section 107/151 Cr..PC were decided. A National Lok Adalat was held at TLSC headquarter court complex Doda under the chairmanship of O.P.Thakur, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee (CJM Doda). Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Doda Arun Kumar Kotwal and District Judicial Mobile Magistrate Doda Javed Rana were also present on the occasion. The Lok Adalat took up a total of 202 cases pertaining to Bank defaulters, Electricity, PHE and domestic issues and recovered Rs 455150 from the defaulters on the spot. A large number of public litigants, advocates, social workers and journalists, representatives of different banks including JK Bank, SBI Bank, JCCB Jammu, PNB and EDB besides officials from PHE, PDD, RDD, Revenue and other departments participated in the National Lok Adalat. Likewise, the District Legal Services Authority, Doda (Bhaderwah) organized a National Lok Adalat under the chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bhaderwah, M.K. Sharma.
The Lok Adalat comprised of seven benches in which various criminal compoundable matters, MACT cases, Bank Matters, Cases under NI Act, Matrimonial Cases, Civil Cases, Cases pertaining to public utilities, Labour disputes etc. pending before different courts at Bhaderwah, Doda and Thathri and also pre-litigation cases were taken up for amicable settlement. A total of 557 cases were taken up, of which, 329 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs. 6204257 was realized in the MACT cases, Bank recovery cases, Compoundable Criminal cases and Public Utility Cases.
Meanwhile a National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge Srinagar, Rasheed Ali Dar here Saturday in Srinagar in which 445 cases were settled amicably. A total of 825 cases were taken up for hearing during which Rs. 70,000 was recovered as fine in various challans and Rs. 55.40 lakh was awarded as compensation in various MACT cases. Besides, Rs. 98,000 was recovered as settlement amount in various bank matters. Similarly National Lok Adalats were held in various districts of Kashmir Division, including Anantnag, Bandipora, Kulgam and Shopian, during which many cases of varying natures were settled amicably. In Anantnag, a total of 304 cases were taken up for hearing out of which 220 cases were settled and a total settlement amount of Rs. 29.33 lakh was awarded. In Bandipora, a total of 1349 cases were taken up for hearing out of which 1055 cases were settled and a total amount of Rs. 1.73 crore was awarded. In Kulgam, 93 out of 125 cases taken up for hearing were settled and an amount of Rs. 7.95 lakh was awarded as compensation in MACT cases. In Shopian, a total of 162 cases were taken up for hearing out of which 80 cases were settled and a total settlement amount of Rs 32.57 lakh was awarded.
