Speaker inaugurates dev works at Khawaskhan, listens to issues of locals

Jammu: Speaker Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Thursday inaugurated newly constructed lane and drain here at village Khawaskhan of his home constituency Gandhi Nagar.

The works have been completed under the Panchayat Dharap CDF Scheme, by the Rural Development Department. MLC, Vikram Randhawa was also present at the inauguration.

Interacting with the locals, the Speaker said the government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the rural people and focus has been laid on providing clean drinking water, better lanes and drains, road connectivity, education facilities, adequate power supply and health facilities.

The Speaker also chaired a public grievance redress camp and listened to people’s problem.  He said maximum number of works have been completed in the area which was ignored by earlier representatives. He also assured that the pending works in the area would be taken in hand on priority basis.

The Speaker also assured the people that 100 KVA transformers would be installed to improve power scenario in the area.

The locals also put forth their demands seeking inclusion of genuine families in BPL list, clearance of pending old age pension cases, benefits of PMAY and other schemes to the eligible people of the area.

The Speaker directed the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to provide succor to the needy people under state and centrally sponsored welfare schemes.

The Speaker also went around the village to take firsthand appraisal of the development needs of the locals. He stressed upon the people to actively    monitor the quality and pace of progress of the ongoing works.

The locals expressed their gratitude to the Speaker for the development of the area and hoped that pending demands would also be met with same spirit.

MLC, Vikram Randhawa also spoke on the occasion and said the government was committed to develop Gandhi Nagar as a model Constituency.

A large number of people and officials of Rural Development Department were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the Speaker also launched a cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Mission at Gandhi Nagar near Laxmi Narayan Mandir.
