Bali inaugurates exclusive Tetanus Ward, new elevator worth Rs 71 lakh in GMC Jmu

Jammu: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat Saturday dedicated an exclusive Tetanus Ward and newly installed lift facility to the patients in the Government Medical College, Jammu. Both these facilities have been developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 71 lakh.
The Minister also inspected some wards and units in the GMC and took stock of the sanitation and other facilities available there for the patients.
Principal GMC, Dr. Sunanda Raina, Registrar Academics, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Dara Singh, Chief Engineer Mechanical, engineering staff of GMC and several faculty Members were present on the occasion.
After inauguration of ward and lift facility, the Minister convened a meeting with the hospital administration of GMC, SSH and SMGS to review the present scenario of services. Several issues related to the functioning of these institutions were discussed and thrust was to further improve things and plugging the gaps, if any. The Minister directed the Medical Superintendents to lay focused attention on the patient care and sanitation with added zeal and dedication. He said GMC and SMGS are most crowed institutions and catering to the needs of entire Jammu division, besides floating population from Kashmir and other parts of the country, therefore, authorities must put best efforts to cater the flow of patients.
While taking feedback on the infrastructural facilities in the GMC from the concerned, the Minister called upon the engineers to complete the on-going works in a time bound with special thrust on the quality of works. He directed for formulating a proposal for complete facelift and landscaping of the premises of the GMC with modern entry gate. He also called for proper demarcation and fencing the land belonging to GMC to protect it in a systematic manner. He said and maintained that it is endeavor of the Government to provide improved medicare facilities to the patients in all government institutions for which all out efforts will be made. In order to further improve the infrastructural as well as diagnostic facilities across the State a well-knit plan has been conceived which will be executed under PMDP as per the actual workload of the institution, said the Minister.
Responding to the media queries, the Minister said the Transport Commissioner has been directed to fix the rates of private ambulances which are being hired by the patients for various destinations on various occasions, including outside the State for shifting the patients. In order to ensure that patients are not overcharged by these ambulance operators, the Government will fix the rates within next few days, said the Minister.
