Srinagar: In a bid to highlight the plight of Kashmiri inmates lodged in Indian Tihar Jail, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front leadership on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership carried out a peaceful march from Maisuma to Budshah Chowk.
The march was carried out to protest against shifting of Kashmiri prisoners to outside state jails, move to save the culprits involved in rape and murder of innocent Asifa and the civilian killings in Shopian.
The participants in rally assembled at Madina Chowk along with placards and banners. It was led by JKLF Vice Chairman Showkat Ahmed Bakshi while scores of other activists and leaders included Zonal President Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Mushtaq Ajmal, Sirajuddin Mir, Shiekh Abdul Rashid, Zahoor Bhat, Muhammad Yasin Bhat, Muhammad Sidiq Shah, Ashraf Bin Salam, Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Prof Javaid, Shamim Akhoon and Mehrajuddin Parray.
Showkat Ahmed Bakshi while talking to reporters said that political prisoners are being shifted from Kashmir to outside jails under a well planned conspiracy and it is only vendetta.
“Whole world has accepted the rights of political prisoners. Those who violate the rights of prisoners have no right to call themselves democratic,” he said and added that all efforts will be made to mitigate the sufferings of the prisoners.
He said that those prisoners shifted from Srinagar to outside state jails are being harassed and tortured, even they are being deprived of the medical facilities. “Even court directions are being violated while the Kashmiri prisoners at Tihar Jail are facing a Hell like situation,” Bakshi said.
He said that it is the strategy of India to harass people of Kashmir and that is why Shopian like incidents are taking place.
Castigating those who are eager to save the culprits involved in rape and murder of little girl Asifa, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Vice Chairman Showkat Ahmed Bakshi said that new ways are means are being adopted to save the rapists.
“It is a shameful act that fanatics are carrying out pro-rape rallies to save the culprits involved in heinous crime at Kathua. Equally shameful is the silence maintained by Indian media. This exposes their duplicity,” he said.
Bakshi said that fundamental elements and Agencies should bear it in mind that Kashmiri Muslim will always stand with Jammu Muslims and will not tolerate any assault on them.
