Rajouri: Director Accounts and Treasuries, Jammu, Iftikhar Chouhan, Tuesday held a meeting to review implementation of Pay and Accounts Office System (PAO), which is all set to replace old Treasury System in the state by April 2018.

Enumerating the benefits entailed in the new System, Chouhan said the PAO will have far-reaching impact in streamlining the government expenditures. It will be able to monitor and control the purpose and objective of payments, budgetary sanctions and ceilings, proper classification besides excess payment issues.

Regarding functioning of the new system, Chouhan said instead of receiving the receipts and disbursing the payments of numerous departments in the treasury system, the PAO would deal with just one department. This will ensure a better understanding of the department resulting in better forecasting, budgeting, accounting and reporting.

The Director also briefed the participants about various aspects of PAO System including DDO Details, Group Mastery, Report Generation System, Pay Management and Bill Processing.

Referring to tremendous pressure treasuries face towards the fag end of a financial year, the Director impressed upon the Treasury Officers to be extra cautious to seize the chances of malicious drawls. He also advised the DDOs to avoid the last hour rush and ensure that bills are produced in treasuries well in time.

The meeting was attended by District Treasury Officer, Additional DTO, Treasury Officers, Executive Engineer PWD, Executive Engineer PMGSY, Executive Engineer PDD, Executive Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control, DDOs from Forest, Agriculture, PHE, Industries, Education, Handloom, Handicraft and other departments.
