Mehbooba’s challenges in election time

Though Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s condemnation of the rally taken out by “Hindu Ekta Munch” under the garb of “nationalism” in support of the Kathua girl murder accused is encouraging for the victim’s family and people seeking punishment to culprits but highly objectionable is the silence of PDP’ally the BJP on the rally taken out by the fanatic hindu communalists in support of the accused of the Kathua girl murder case. Had Mehbooba Mufti in her statement asked her party’s ally the BJP to break it silence on the protest rally taken out in support of a criminal who has committed an unpardonable heinous crime the people would taken well the statement of the Chief Minister. Interestingly Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti as minister incharge home department should have sought explanation from the SSP of the concerned district for allowing the “ Hindu Ekta Munc” to take out a protest rally in support of the Kathua murder girl accused. Interestingly the inaction of the top police authorities of Kupwara district including the concerns SSP had become a point of debate in the just concluded assembly elections but the government after showing a lot of reluctance conceded the opposition demand for the transfer of concerned SHO and turned down the demand for the transfer of concerned SSP and Dy SP. Had Chief Minister transferred the SSP and other officers of the area the rally taken in support of the Kathua murder girl accused won’t have been allowed this time. Though leaders of almost of all the mainstream parties have condemned the “Hindu Ekta Munch” for taking out the rally in support of the Kathua girl murder case accused but the BJP, J&K National Panthers Party (J&K NPP) and other Jammu centric parties have choosen to remain silence over the protest rally taken out in support of a criminals.
BJP a party pitching for humanity is though taking pride in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular slogan “Beti Bachao,Beti Padao” but the criminal silence of the party over a rally taken in support of a criminal named accused in the murder case of a minor girl has unmasked the face of the saffron party in Jammu & Kashmir state. Silence of BJP over the rally taken out in support of a criminal named accused in Kathua girl murder case sends out a message to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mehbooba that real challenge for her government on restoration of the public faith in justice delivery system comes from within the coalition and not the opposition and the critics. Though investigation ordered by the Chief Minister into the Kathua girl murder case has also the approval of the BJP part of the coalition ministry but unfortunately even a single BJP minister has not choosen to condemn the “Hindu Ekta Munch” for holding a rally in support of a criminal named accused in Kathua girl murder case and highly objectionable silence of BJP shows its tendencies to politicize purely a human issue on religious lines.
