Srinagar: Protests were held in Kupwara village of north Kashmir on Friday with protestors demanding construction of tunnel at high altitude Sadhna top. The spot is prone to avalanches.
Last month, 10 people were killed when an avalanche swept away a cab they were travelling in. The protestors, mostly traders, held a protest outside the office of sub divisional magistrate Karnah, demanding construction of a tunnel at Sadhna top.
“The only alternative to avoid frequent accidents on the deadly road would be the construction of a tunnel,” said a protester Aijaz Ahmad Dohi.
Moreover, in wake of snowfall during winters, the road through Sadhna top remains suspended adding to the woes of people.
